FBI agents stormed a house Friday in Kirkwood, Mo., and found missing 13-year-old Ben Ownby in the company of another missing boy, Shawn Hornbeck, who vanished in April 2002, according to a report by KTVI in St. Louis, Mo.

William Ben Ownby and Shawn Hornbeck were found Friday afternoon in an apartment in Kirkwood. Ben, 13, went missing on Monday after getting off his school bus near his Beaufort, Missouri home. Sources tell FOX 2 News that the FBI stormed a house in Kirkwood and found Ben along with Shawn Hornbeck who had been missing since 2002. Hornbeck was last seen riding his bike on Oct. 6 in Richwoods, MO.
Police say they went to serve a search warrant and that resulted in the recovery.
Both boys appear to be okay. They will be checked out.
There was a tip on the truck that led them to the area.[read more]

Police say little Bryan Santos Gomes and his mother were kidnapped Friday by a woman driving a black Sport utility vehicle. Authorities say the mother, Maria Fatima Ramos Dos Santos, was released south of Fort Myers a short time later, but the abductor kept the baby. [read more]

Florida will Execute Danny Rolling on Wednesday

In late Aug 1990, Danny Rolling murdered five young people, three days in a row, the weekend before the fall semester began at the University of Florida in Gainesville. The brutal details included Rolling stabbing and mutilating his victims, sexually assaulted three of the four women and decapitated one...at three different murder scenes.

The Five Young Lives that fell victim to Rolling's savagery are:

Sonya Larson, 18 of Deerfield Beach (Williamsburg Village Apartments)
Christina Powell, 17, of Jacksonville (shared apartment with Sonya Larson)
Christa Hoyt, 18, of Archer (lived alone in a duplex)
Tracy Inez Paules, 23, of Miami (Gatorwood Apartments)
Manuel R. Taboada, 23, of Carol City (shared apartment with Tracy Paules)

Sonya Larson's mom, Ada said "He's trying to get out of it by saying it's cruel and unusual punishment," she went on to say "How can [lethal injection] be cruel, considering what he did? It's a cakewalk, compared to what he did.....I think he ought to be stabbed as many times as he stabbed all his victims."

This monster deserves the death penalty and I am glad Florida carries it out, unfortunately for the families of the victims, they have had to wait more than 16 years and more than 12 after Rolling's confessions in the courtroom. On Wednesday scheduled at 6 p.m. and hoping for no last-minute delays, Danny Rolling will be injected for his day with death in Starke.

It is somewhat ironic, one of the victims, Sonya Larson, her brother Jim Larson was married to Carla that grew up in Pompano Beach, after Sonya's death, seven years later, 1997 in Orlando, Carla was abducted from a grocery store parking lot. Her dead nude body was found in a field two days later. Her killer, John Huggins sits on the same Death Row as Rolling. At that time, Jim and Carla had a sweet little 13 month old daughter, that Jim Larson's life revolves around now raising her. My heart and prayers go out to all the families.....Many gathered this past week in Broward County to celebrate the young lives that were cut short....it is very sad that such evil exist and lurks among us...then and now.

Cops Arrest Suspect in Case of Teen Who Text-Messaged Mom After Kidnapping via Fox News.
LUGOFF, S.C. — Authorities early Sunday arrested a man they suspect kidnapped a 14-year-old girl who was able to send a cell phone text message to her mother, leading to her rescue from a booby-trapped bunker where she had been held for as long as 10 days.
Investigators arrested 37-year-old Vinson Filyaw on Interstate 20 in Richland County about 24 hours after rescuing Elizabeth Shoaf, said Sheriff Steve McCaskill in neighboring Kershaw County.
Filyaw will be charged with kidnapping, possession of an incendiary device and impersonating an officer, he said.
He said more charges likely will follow after investigators interview Shoaf. Police are letting her rest but probably will talk to her Monday about the Sept. 6 abduction and ordeal that followed.
"The big relief was when we found Elizabeth Shoaf alive and well," McCaskill said. "But it is a great relief when you get criminal of this type out of society and behind bars."

Shoaf was found by deputies about a mile from her home in a 15-foot deep hole in the side of a hill that was covered with plywood. The bunker had a hand-dug privy with toilet paper, a camp stove and shelves made with cut branches and canvas. [read more]

This is the second case this year in South Carolina involving an abducted teenage girl taken to an underground hideout.
Kenneth Hinson of Hartsville is charged with kidnapping two 17-year-old girls March 14 and taking them to a closet-sized dungeon behind his home. Authorities said the girls freed themselves and walked to safety, and Hinson was captured after a four-day manhunt.

I reported on Hinson (pictured dungeon) back in March also living in South Carolina....I am so glad that S.C. has passed a new law to put these monsters on death row.

Sounds alittle misleading to me for endorsing their site.

Sorry friends and readers that visit their site from this blog, you will have to go through other means to find their site from this point on. I have dedicated the last ten years of my life to catching sexual offenders. My two children were sexually abused at a day care center by a pedophile. My daughter was only 2-years-old at the time. It totally and utterly devastated me. I never want another child to have to experience that.

I've been catching sexual offenders for 10 years now but for the past 6 years the focus of my work has mainly been catching child pedophiles on the Internet and I have put many behind bars. The children's success stories have been featured in many newspapers and magazines. Each time I close a case I consider it another victory for the children. I have volunteered my time over the last decade and have made it my personal mission to save children from sexual offenders. I created this web site so that more parents and children would become aware of the danger that awaits online. The Internet can be a wonderful tool when used properly. However, parents must educate themselves regarding the good and the bad so that they can teach their children how to use it safely. I am asking all concerned parents to join me in the fight against child pornography and sexual abuse. My personal motto has always been that "I will save the children", but 2 is always better than one, and through volunteer work or donations; together, we can save the children.

Finally, Polygamist Warren Steed Jeffs, 50, a leader of a cult polygamous sect, arrested outside Las Vegas, NV late Monday night. Hopefully now, many of his victims will feel safe enough to come forward with their testimony. It breaks my heart to know that these children and many of the women have been forced to live this lifestyle for this long.

LAS VEGAS — The charismatic leader of a polygamous sect was captured during a traffic stop three months after being put on the FBI's Most Wanted List and faces charges he arranged marriages between underage girls and older men.

Warren Steed Jeffs, 50, was arrested without incident just outside Las Vegas late Monday after more than a year on the run, the FBI said. No weapons were found, but the 2007 red Cadillac Escalade he was riding in was filled with items including three wigs, 15 cell phones and tens of thousands of dollars in cash and gift cards, authorities said.

Jeffs has led the Fundamentalist Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints since 2002 and is said to have at least 40 wives and nearly 60 children. Church dissidents say that underage marriages — some involving girls as young as 13 — escalated into the hundreds under his leadership, and that he broke apart families by casting out married men and reassigning their women and children to others.

John E. Lewis, special agent in charge of the FBI Phoenix division said...... Items inside the vehicle included $54,000 (euro42,160) in cash, gift cards totaling $10,000 (euro7,800), the cell phones and wigs, four laptop computers, a GPS device, a police scanner, and numerous unopened envelopes that were thought to contain more cash.

Two other people were traveling with Jeffs - wife Naomi Jeffs and a brother, Isaac Steed Jeffs, both 32. They were later released.

Charges DROPPED against John Mark Karr

Oh how I wished the DNA would have matched this freaky pedo....We can only hope that Sonoma County, Calif. will impose a prison sentence on this dangerous sicko from 'misdemeanor child pornography charges' from 2001 and lock him behind bars. Personally, I'm glad that the D.A. Mary Lacy snatched up Karr in Thialand....She may have saved many little girls from being molested or even worse killed.. Deep inside, I feel this pedo is a danger to society and he will only get more determined.
If ones listened to his confessions, tapes, and read his prior emails...you would have to believe that there was reason to look closer at this sick individual as a possible suspect. No one can still account from his whereabouts from Dec 23-Jan 4 in 1996.

Karr was about to start a teaching job in Thailand, and in his correspondence began to describe an interest in several girls "in much the same terms that he had described his interest in JonBenet," Lacy said in court papers.

Karr confessed and described the 6-year-old girl's death in detail, but the prosecutors faced a major hurdle because so much physical evidence has been made public, Boulder County District Attorney Mary Lacy said. Authorities also couldn't confirm that Karr was in Boulder at the time of the slaying.

Killer Confesses to Murder of Jon Benet Ramsey

GREAT, GREAT NEWS!!! A ten year old cold case is broken today with a suspect, John Karr confessing to killing Jon Benet Ramsey.

Via Fox News: BOULDER, Colo. — A man arrested in Thailand is being held in connection with the slaying nearly a decade ago of 6-year-old beauty queen JonBenet Ramsey, U.S. officials said Wednesday.
Colorado authorities scheduled a news conference Thursday to discuss the case, but declined further comment.

The awful murder happened a day after Christmas, on Dec. 26, 1996 and the world was shocked by this precious child's death. Many suspected Jon Benet's mother, Patsy Ramsy that died recently, for all these years. The latest breaking news, the killer has been emailing Patsy Ramsey prior to her death from his jail cell in Bangkok, Thailand. John Karr has been behind bars for unrelated sexual charges.

This story is still breaking with new details and experts speaking on information that only the killer would know involving the death.

Federal officials familiar with the case, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said the man was already being held in Bangkok on unrelated sex charges. Media reported that the suspect, a 41-year-old second-grade teacher, will be brought back to the United States this weekend.
The girl was found beaten and strangled in the basement of the family's home in Boulder, Colo., on Dec. 26, 1996.

If you remember the ramson note was for $118,000, it was explained earlier Jon Benet's father, John had just recieved a bonus for that odd number amount. John Karr has connections to both Boulder, Co and Ga.

The Ramsey's attorney will be making a statement within this hour.(Live News Conference)

WASHINGTON — President Bush, joined by "America's Most Wanted" host John Walsh, signed a new law Thursday that requires convicted child molesters to be listed on a national Internet database and face a felony charge for failing to update their whereabouts.
"Our nation grieves with every family that's suffered the unbearable pain of a child whose been abducted or abused," Bush said in a bill-signing ceremony in the Rose Garden. "This law takes an important step forward in this country's efforts to protect those who cannot protect themselves."

As I watched the ceremony today, tears of happiness rolled down my cheeks. There are several of us bloggers that joined in on this fight the last year....and it has been a long road, but nothing compared to the victims' families and friends. This day is a day to rejoice, because from now on with these extremely tough, stern laws, these creeps will hopefully think twice before committing crimes against children.

Twenty-five years to the day, John Walsh and his wife had their precious son, Adam taken from them by abduction then thereafter murdered. There are two ways to look at this victory for how long it took to get this bill signed into law. Twenty-five years the Walshs' have been fighting for tougher laws or two years that it has taken to pass the Senate. So many people have supported this bill from both aisles, with some strong arm twisting of Senator Ted Kennedy finally.....I mean finally it was passed and SIGNED into LAW. (tons of information on this in my archives-Assorted Babble) This past year, many of us have encouraged our readers to write, call, and continue to send messages to Capital Hill to pass tougher laws to protect our children including the Jessica Lunsford Law.

This is a huge victory for our most vulnerable, our nation's innocent children, that depend on adults to protect them. Now, thanks to all involved, this tough new law, signed by our President will help protect our children from sex offenders. Hooray for the Children!!!

WASHINGTON - A Virginia man was sentenced to 150 years in prison for sexually exploiting minors and operating child pornography Web sites. Gregory John Mitchel, who previously had been convicted of child pornography crimes, pleaded guilty in January to the production, distribution, sale and possession of child pornography.

Mitchel, 39, was sentenced Friday in federal court in Roanoke, the U.S. Attorney's office for the Western District of Virginia said.

Officials found that Mitchel, of Dublin, Va., assisted in the daily operation of child pornography Web sites and filmed videos of minors engaging in sex acts.

Mitchel was implicated by Justin Berry, 19, who for five years starred in his own Web cam child pornography business and has testified before Congress about Internet child pornography. [read more]

TAVARES, Fla. — The judge in the murder trial of a man accused of killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford has stopped jury selection because he says an impartial panel can't be found in the area.

The judge stopped the process on Thursday after attorneys spent three days weeding out potential jurors who had been exposed to news reports about the case. The judge said the case has to be moved farther from Citrus County. [read more]

Attorneys spent three days this week weeding out potential jurors who knew of news reports about the case. Howard had moved jury selection to Tavares in Lake County because of pervasive publicity in Citrus County, where the alleged crimes occurred and where Jessica's body was found in March 2005.

But Howard said Thursday the case has to be moved farther from away. It was not immediately clear where and when the trial will be held. Howard said it will be somewhere outside the judicial circuit that includes Citrus, Lake, Marion, Sumter and Hernando counties in central Florida. [read full article]

This trial case is going to be heart breaking and difficult to cover. I want to see it over with, so hopefully time will fly until he is put to death.

TAVARES -- Potential jurors were questioned for the first time Monday for the murder trial of a convicted sex offender accused of kidnapping, raping and killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford.

John Evander Couey, 47, appeared in court wearing a gray suit as officials began preliminary questioning of a pool of 284 potential jurors. Jessica's father, Mark Lunsford, sat in court behind the prosecutors' table, across the courtroom from Couey, a former neighbor.

Because of the pervasive publicity in the county, state Circuit Judge Ric Howard moved jury selection to Tavares in Lake County, northwest of Orlando.

Before beginning jury selection, Howard ruled that defense attorney Dan Lewan could not question Mark Lunsford about his finances or introduce evidence of pornography found in the delete bin of a computer in his home after his daughter disappeared.

Howard also said he would decide later on a motion by Lewan to keep the jury from seeing photographs of Jessica's body. Lewan said the photos are ``difficult to look at'' and would be prejudicial.

The state's job to convict Couey was made more difficult when Howard ruled June 30 that his taped confession could not be used as evidence in the trial because investigators had ignored his requests for an attorney.Howard ruled, however, that prosecutors can still use the discovery of Jessica's body buried outside the mobile home where Couey had been living, as well as a bloody mattress from the mobile home that has Jessica's DNA on it.

Other incriminating statements he made later to investigators and a jail guard also can be used during the trial. Prosecutors say they are confident they have enough evidence to convict him. [read more]

John Couey's Confession Thrown out by FL Judge

ORLANDO, Fla. — The confession of a man charged with kidnapping, raping and killing 9-year-old Jessica Lunsford isn't admissible in court, but the discovery of her body can be used as evidence, a judge ruled Friday.

John Evander Couey, a 47-year-old convicted sex offender, gave the confession to detectives, but also told them that he wanted to consult a lawyer. He wasn't given the opportunity to do so.

Jessica Marie Lunsford was found kneeling and clutching a stuffed animal, hands tied with speaker wire and fingers poking through the garbage bags in which she was buried alive in March 2005. Two days earlier, Couey told detectives he kidnapped, raped and killed the 9-year-old girl.

As I wrote on Assorted Babble: Oh my Lord, this is terrible and my heart and prayers go to the Lunsford family right now that must be totally devastated. One thing that can bring some comfort is that the police have so much evidence against this monster....that he will definitely die and be found guilty along with the death sentence. John Couey, this scum of the earth goes to trial next week.

South FL Sun-Sentinel Sat's article stated Circuit Judge Ric Howard threw out the confession, as we now know, to the Citrus Co Sheriff's detectives because they did not allow Couey to speak with an attorney after him asking for one. However, Howard is allowing two exchanges in which Couey did admit guilt. One discussion was with detectives while they collected hair samples and the other from a Citrus Co. jail guard, Kenneth Slanker, Couey summoned to his cell. The conversations were not recorded, but in the disposition of the guard Couey expressed remorse for what he had done.

Prosecutor Rick Ridgeway submitted evidence found at the mobile home, where Couey was living and the DNA matched positive to little precious Jessica's DNA.

The death penalty is being sought by the prosecutors for the charges, that Couey pleaded not guilty to; Premeditated murder, burglary, kidnapping, and sexual battery.

July 10th, the trial and jury selection are expected to begin. Jessie's dad, Mark Lunsford said the ruling didn't concern him: "I don't care -they're still going to get him. I say "Amen"and "Couey's days are limited on this earth."

Mary Winkler's Statement Read in TN Court Friday

Sat July 1st reported....Via Sun-Sentinel: SELMER, Tenn. · A minister's wife charged with murdering her husband told police she shot him after they argued over family finances and then told him "I'm sorry" as he lay dying in their bedroom, according to testimony at a bond hearing Friday.

Mary Winkler, 32, has been jailed without bond since March 23, accused of killing her husband, Matthew Winkler, 31, at their Church of Christ parsonage in Selmer, a small town 80 miles east of Memphis.

In court Friday, Tennessee Bureau of Investigation Agent Brian Booth read a statement Mary Winkler gave authorities in Alabama, where she was arrested a day after her husband's body was found by church members.

Booth testified that Winkler told police she knew her husband kept a 12-gauge pump-action shotgun in the closet of the home where they lived with their three daughters. She said she didn't remember getting the gun.

"The next thing I remember was hearing a loud boom. I remember thinking it wasn't as loud as I thought it would be," Booth said, reading from Winkler's statement.

She told police her husband rolled from the bed onto the floor after being shot.

"He asked me why, and I just said `I'm sorry,'" Booth read from the statement.

Prosecutor Walter Freeland said Matthew Winkler was shot in the back from close range with a 12-gauge shotgun as he lay in bed, with the blast breaking his spine and tearing into internal organs.

Winkler said she and her husband had argued throughout the evening about several things, including family finances. The problems were "mostly my fault," she said, because she was in charge of keeping the family books.

"He had really been on me lately criticizing me for things -- the way I walk, I eat, everything. It was just building up to a point. I was tired of it. I guess I got to a point and snapped," Booth read to the court.

Judge Weber McCraw is expected to decide, perhaps by next week, if he will set a bond. Prosecutors asked McCraw to keep Winkler in jail to await her trial scheduled in October.

John Couey Confession and Court Day Set

Via ABC Action News: INVERNESS - John Couey was in a bay area courtroom, and so was mark Lunsford.

It's the first time the two have been in the same room since the brutal death of little Jessica Lunsford last year.

A hearing at the Citrus County courthouse is what put the two in the same place.
The hearing dealt with the legality of John Couey's confession.

It wrapped up about 6 pm Friday, with no decision from the judge on the issue just yet.

It was a very uncomfortable day, sharing the courtroom with his daughter's accused killer.
Much of the testimony brought back some very painful memories.

Again, no ruling today, but the judge did indicate he will make his decision next Friday, June 30th.
The judge did confirm today the jury for John Couey's trial will be selected in Lake County, that's in central Florida.
The trial is expected to start in just a couple of weeks.

John Couey's taped confession was clearly too much for Mark Lunsford to bear, giving chilling details of Jessica's death.

My thoughts and prayers are with Mark Lunsford, Jessica's family and friends. This is going to be more than heart breaking to hear more details in this horrific case.

Miami Child Rapist on the Loose

Via NBC6 -MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. -- Residents and people passing through Miami Gardens now have a stark reminder that a suspected child rapist is still on the loose.

Two billboards were posted Friday displaying a sketch of the man wanted by police for abducting and molesting two 10-year-old girls.

Miami-Dade police said the man stopped the two girls on a street on May 3 and demanded they get in his van. The girls were then sexually assaulted.

Amber Alert - Virginia - Five yr old Tyron Atkins

The Spotsylvania Police Department and the Virginia State Police issued the Amber Alert after the child was abducted on Tuesday afternoon.

Tyron Atkins, 5 years old. He's three feet tall and 40 pounds. He was last seen wearing a red shirt and red shorts.

Police say Atkins was likely abducted by 32-year-old Janell Butler and an unknown black male, who is six feet tall and 220 pounds. He is wearing a black sweatshirt. Butler is a black female and is five-feet-five inches tall, weighing 170 pounds from the Richmond area.

They may be in a 1999 dark green Ford Winstar mini-van with Virginia license JXT-4820. They were last seen in the area of Ladysmith Food Lion about 10:30 a.m. headed south on Virginia Route 1.

PURCELL, Okla. (AP) -- The man accused of killing a 10-year-old neighbor girl for an elaborate plan to eat human flesh joked about cannibalism on his online diary, discussed the effects of not taking his anti-depression medication and mentioned "dangerously weird" fantasies.

All he wanted in life, Kevin Ray Underwood wrote in his blog, was "to be able to live like a normal person."

Horror in Purcell, Ok - Little Jamie Rose Bolin

I am sure it was like any other day in Purcell, Oklahoma until one of their babies went missing.
Little 10 yr old Jamie Rose Bolin was a cute little girl about 4-feet tall, weighed about 110 pounds, red shoulder length hair, blue eyes and lots of freckles. Just precious! She loved riding her green bicycle with pink/purple lettering. She was wearing a pink shirt, blue jeans and tennis shoes or flip flops when she was abducted Wed afternoon at the library. I am sure she trusted her neighbor that lived in the same building complex as she did. All along Murderer Kevin Ray Underwood, 26 yrs old was pre-meditating the worst crime that Prosecutor Tim Kuykendall had ever seen in his 24 yr job. He said it was “heinous and atrocious”.

"We were sitting outside his patio door the entire time," said Linda Chiles, an
aunt of slain Jamie Rose Bolin. "I don't know if it's a good thing to know
because, honestly, we could have been sitting there at the very moment he killed
her and that's an awful thing to think about", said her aunt Linda that lives in
Guthrie. "That guy took a life that had just begun," she said. "Her daddy is not
going to walk her down the aisle. She's not going to have babies. She's not
going to get married. I mean, it's over for her, and this guy is sitting all
cozy in a jail cell eating dinner right now and that's the reality of it."

The apartment manager, Tim Bayer told the FBI agents he heard Underwood was the last person to see Bolin before she went missing and about 3:45 p.m. the agents found Underwood. He was questioned about the girl’s disappearance according to the affidavit.

[ When they were finished questioning Underwood, agents took him back to his apartment. He agreed to let agents search his apartment to make sure she wasn’t there. When looked in a bedroom closet, they found a large plastic container sealed with duct tape.
Underwood today agents the container was filled with comic books. When agents opened the container, they found a shirt believed to belong to Bolin. Underwood then told agents, “go ahead and arrest
me. She is there. I chopped her up,”the affidavit said. ]

Evidence Found- Jamie's bicycle dismantled under the Defendant’s bed.
Other items seized from the apartment included:
-decorative dagger believed to be used in an attempt to cut off the victim’s head – A hacksaw-Duct Tape – Meat Tenderizer – BBQ Skewers – Duffle Bag – A mug, the victim is believed to have brought with her when she entered the apartment on Wed. – Video on SERIAL KILLERS – A computer – A wooden Cutting Board-
The State Medical Examiners Office reports, the victim is believed to have been hit on the head with the wooden cutting board 3-4 times. Investigators believe the defendant put his hand over her mouth to smother here as well as having piece of duct tape put over her mouth. They believe Jamie Bolin was killed before their search began.

Other potential targets or victims, both children and adults are believed by the investigators were part of the defendant’s plans, before Bolin was chosen.

The Motive potentially was to kidnap, rape, torture, kill, cut their head, drain the body of blood, rape the corpse, eat the corpse, then dispose of the organs and bones.

Little Jamie Bolin was found with deep saw marks to her neck in an apparent attempt to decapitate the body by the defendant. It is believed the body was sexually molested after the death.

Yesterday we were reminded again of the inexcusable, disgusting plague of porn and on the internet. Justin Berry, now 18 testified on Capital Hill yesterday of his life starting at 13 yrs old and Brian J. Doyle a 55 year old spokesman/official for U.S. Homeland Security was arrested caught in the act chatting with someone he thought was a 14 yr old cancer surviving girl but was an uncover agent. This is just mind blowing and listening to the details are just unconceivable, it makes me sad to have to report this. Last night late, the breaking news came in about Doyle and his arrest in Maryland.

Dear Representative and/or Senator:

I am a constituent who is very concerned about the sex offenders who live in my community. Recently, there have been many stories in the news about how the current sex offender registration and notification laws don't work, and need to be changed. I think it's a matter of life and death that you help your fellow lawmakers make this change to protect our children. I urge you to support the provisions of H.R. 4472/ S. 1086 that would create a more comprehensive system for tracking these offenders, and improve the way information is released about these predators to our communities.

Today, there are more than 500,000 sex offenders who are supposed to be registered in the U.S.; however, it's believed that 100,000 of these offenders are 'lost' in the system. We must:

Close the loopholes between state programs, so sex offenders can't move from state to state and elude authorities.
Provide federal and state funding so law enforcement agencies have the resources to track these predators.
Make sure that information about sex offenders is released to all of our communities. Thank you for taking the time to read my views on this issue.

The time is now to tighten the tracking of sex offenders, and provide higher standards for notifying people like myself and my neighbors. I don't want one more person who's been convicted of sex crimes to be able to hide from our community and law enforcement, and prey upon our children.

Trans Fat Detective on "No Tran Fats"

I receive a newsletter from WebMD in regards to my heart occasionally I will read it and other times it is deleted, however this caught my attention.

Eating for good health just got a whole lot easier now that food manufacturers are required to list trans fats on nutrition labels.

Many manufacturers reformulated products to reduce or eliminate these fats, which are implicated in heart disease. Consequently, there have been some big changes since the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (DHSS) released its top 10 trans fat foods in its 2005 Dietary Guidelines for Americans.

WebMD can help you become a trans fat detective. It's not simply a matter of grabbing products with the alluring come-on: "no trans fats."

Following are the top 10 categories of foods that made the "most unwanted list."

1. Spreads. Margarine continues to be a major culprit. Stick margarine is worse than soft margarine.
· Blue Bonnet stick margarine -- 1.5 grams
· Fleischmann's stick margarine -- 2 grams
· Land O'Lakes stick margarine --2.5 grams
· Smart Balance tub margarine -- 0
· Smucker's Natural Peanut Butter -- 0
Tip: Dip bread in flavored olive oil instead of slathering it with butter.
We use REAL BUTTER and Olive Oil here. My daughter and I were just discussing how yrs past they would say eggs, butter, etc. is bad for you, but now they say it is good. Well I'm glad we did not listen to their studies.

2. Packaged foods. Enter the aisles of quick mixes as though you're going into a dangerous neighborhood. Good news for parents, though: Kraft has reformulated most of its products, and Easy Mac now has no trans fats.

· Bisquick Lite -- 0
· Betty Crocker, Duncan Hines, and Pillsbury cake mixes -- from 0.5 to 1.5 grams
· Duncan Hines Classic Vanilla Frosting -- 1.5 grams
· Betty Crocker Whipped Cream Cheese Frosting -- 1.5 grams
· Krusteaz Key Lime Bars -- 1 gram
· Ghirardelli Triple Chocolate Brownies -- 1 gram
· Keebler Ready Crust, Graham -- 2 grams
· Lipton Pasta Sides -- 0 grams
· Kraft Easy Mac -- 0 grams
· Old El Paso Taco Shells -- 2.5 grams

Tip: Moore suggests baking cakes from scratch and making frosting with fat-free cream cheese drizzled with melted chocolate. Or replace frosting with jelly or powdered sugar.

3. Soups. Ramen noodles, once a source of trans fats, now have none. Many soups and even soup cups also have none. Check labels nevertheless. Bear Creek Cheddar Broccoli soup mix has 2 grams.
Tip: The words "lite" and "reduced fat" do not necessarily indicate an absence of trans fats.

4. Fast food. Fast-food and other restaurants are among the major users of partially hydrogenated oils, but they're not required to provide nutrition labels. Still, they're under pressure from public interest groups to reduce or eliminate trans fats. Many McDonald's breakfast items are loaded. A sausage biscuit has 5 grams of trans fats, a deluxe warm cinnamon roll has 6, and a deluxe breakfast has 11.

KFC's Original Recipe chicken breast has 2.5 grams of trans fat, but its chicken pot pie, which formerly had 14 grams, and Lil' Bucket brownie have none.

If your kid eats four chicken tenders, a small order of fries, and a Hershey's sundae pie at Burger King, that's 6 grams of trans fats.

Tip: Before ordering, ask if trans fats were used in preparing the food.

5. Frozen food. This is a category where convenience often comes with a risk of clogged arteries.

· Sara Lee Butter Streusel Coffee Cake -- 0.5 grams
· Pepperidge Farm Three-Layer Cake-Chocolate Fudge -- 3.5 grams
· Kid Cuisine All American Fried Chicken -- 1.5 grams
· Stouffer's Lasagna With Meat and Sauce -- 0.5 grams
· Betty Crocker Hamburger Helper mixes -- from 0 to 0.5 grams
· Betty Crocker Complete Meals Chicken and Buttermilk Biscuits -- 2.5 grams
· DiGiorno Microwave Rising Crust Pizza -- 1.5 grams
· Tombstone Original Pizza -- 0
· Freschetta Four-Cheese Pizza -- 0.5 grams
· Gorton's fish products -- 0
· Green Giant Pasta, Broccoli and Alfredo Sauce -- 0.5 grams
Tip: Moore suggests making your own pizza, as that's where the trans fats often lurk in prepared pizzas. "It's easy. Mix some yeast, flour, salt, and liquid, and give it time to rise. Or use pita bread as a pizza platform."

6. Baked goods. Icings, fillings, and doughnut frying oils are among the most difficult to make without trans fats. What about your favorite bakery for ordering specialty birthday cakes? Ask them what kinds of oils and shortening they use in their cakes and frostings.

· Betty Crocker Warm Delights, Cinnamon -- 2 grams
· Pillsbury Ready To Bake Sugar Cookies -- 1.5 grams
· Nestle Toll House refrigerated dough -- 0 grams
Tip: Try baking at home, even if you don't know how. Moore says there are many excellent cookbooks that will help you with basic cooking skills.

7. Chips and crackers. Frito-Lay took the lead and reformulated its line of chips to eliminate trans fats long before the labeling requirement went into effect. Others followed suit.

· Fritos -- 0 grams
· Lay's Potato Chips -- 0 grams
· Tostitos -- 0 grams
· Nabisco Ritz -- 0 grams
· Nabisco Wheat Thins -- 0 grams
· Nabisco Triscuit -- 0 grams
· Keebler Club -- 0 grams
· Cheese Nips -- 0 grams
· Pepperidge Farm Goldfish -- 0 grams
Tip: Whole Foods stores do not carry products containing trans fats. Urge your grocery store to do the same.

8. Breakfast food. The cereal and breakfast bar aisle isn't without its perils, but it's far safer than it used to be.

Kellogg's Corn Flakes -- 0 grams
Total Raisin Bran -- 0 grams
Kellogg Pop-Tarts -- 0 grams
Quaker Breakfast Bites -- 0.5 grams
Trix Milk 'n Cereal Bars -- 1 gram
Tip: Even though the deadline for new labels was Jan. 1, 2006, manufacturers have been allowed to use up existing inventories so some products do not yet carry the new labels.

9. Cookies and candy. Cookies and candies have been reformulated as well. Nabisco Chips Ahoy! Real Chocolate Chip Cookies used to have 1.5 grams of trans fats in a serving of three cookies. Now the value is listed as none, although the product does contain partially hydrogenated oils.

· Oreo cookies -- 0 grams
· Lil' Debbie Fudge Brownies -- 0.5 grams
· Nestle candies -- 0 grams
Tip: Cookies and candy are nothing but empty calories. Satisfy your sweet tooth with an apple, banana, or pear.

10. Toppings and dips. This category includes nondairy creamers, flavored coffees, whipped toppings, bean dips, gravy mixes, and salad dressings. Most salad dressings today are trans fat-free, and you'll find a number of the other products in this category without trans fats as well.

· Coffee-Mate -- 0 grams
· General Foods International Flavored Coffees -- 0 grams
· Cool Whip -- 0 grams
· Old El Paso Bean Dip -- 0 grams
Tip: Remember to read labels so you can avoid saturated fats, too. And take your reading glasses to the supermarket. You'll need them to read many products' ingredients lists.

JERUSALEM -- Israeli archaeologists, screening tons of rubble scooped out of this ancient city's sacred Temple Mount, have discovered hundreds of artifacts and coins, as well as jewelry, some with biblical links dating back more than three millennia.

Most of the stones and earth originally were taken to an organic garbage dump in nearby Bethany, the New Testament town known in Arabic as Al-Azariya, and could not be retrieved. But a substantial portion was diverted to the Valley of Kidron, mentioned in the Old Testament and located just outside the Old City's massive walls.

This ambitious archaeological project, known as the Temple Mount Antiquities Operation, was started in November 2004, when Muslims excavated the sector north of Solomon's Stables to build the massive underground Marwani Mosque. Its second season, now under way, will last until February.

The Waqf, or Muslim officials who administer the site -- known to Muslims as the Noble Sanctuary -- helped the Israelis arrange the transfer.

Among the unusual finds extracted by Bar-Ilan University's Gabriel Barkai and his team of students and volunteers is a "bulla," or seal impression, thought to be used to close cloth sacks of silver.

"It bears the name Gedalyahu Ben Immer Ha-Cohen, suggesting that the owner may have been a brother of Pashur Ben Immer, described in the Bible [Jeremiah 20:1] as a priest and temple official," Mr. Barkai said.

That verse says: "Pashur, the son of Immer the priest, who was also chief governor in the House of the Lord, heard that Jeremiah prophesied these things."

The team's discoveries span 10,000 years "and belong to all the historical periods that transpired in Jerusalem," Mr. Barkai said.

One of the finds is a stone weight equivalent to four shekels (an ancient Hebrew measure, about 2 ounces), marked with words written in the ancient Hebrew alphabet. Click here for the full story

Powerful Earthquake Strikes Near Fiji

SUVA, Fiji — A powerful earthquake struck deep under the South Pacific near Fiji Tuesday, the U.S. Geological Survey reported. There were no immediate reports of injuries or damage.
The Hawaii-based Pacific Tsunami Warning Center said it did not expect the quake, which struck 360 miles below the earth's surface, to trigger a damaging Pacific-wide tsunami.
The 7.1-magnitude temblor hit at 5:13 p.m. EST about 60 miles north-northeast of the remote Fijian island of Ndoi, the geological survey said.
Lasarusa Veutibau, a seismologist at Fiji's Mines and Resources Department, said the quake was too deep to have been felt anywhere in the Fiji islands.
Fiji is regularly hit by earthquakes as its 332 islands sit in an active seismic area in the South Pacific. About 110 of the islands are inhabited. Source

Security Tight for New Year's Eve

WASHINGTON (CNN) -- With New Year's Eve on the way, security efforts across the United States have been "ramped up in an unprecedented way" through the end of the week, Homeland Security Secretary Tom Ridge said Tuesday.
The U.S. government will keep the terror threat alert level at orange -- the second-highest on the five-tiered, color-coded scale -- for the rest of the week as officials remain concerned about airline security, Ridge said.
On Monday, the Department of Homeland Security announced it was ordering non-U.S. air carriers to place armed government officers on some flights to, from and over the country.
Some major cities such as New York; Washington; Chicago, Illinois; and Las Vegas, Nevada, plan to close parts or all of their airspace on New Year's Eve, when huge crowds traditionally gather to celebrate in public.
Ridge said people who go to New York's Times Square on New Year's Eve will be safe. "I don't think there's a city that has done more and sustained a higher level of security and protection than New York City," he said.
The Department of Homeland Security is working with New York officials and providing additional assistance at their request, he added. (Full story)
The department asked foreign air carriers to place marshals aboard some flights because "there's a continuous stream of threat reporting that we've seen now for two years that al Qaeda continues to look at commercial aviation, passenger traffic, as either a target or as a weapon," Ridge said, adding that the information comes from credible sources.
Airliners that fail to place marshals on board the flights may be refused government permission to land or fly over the United States.

Back Behind Bars - Rapalo

Reynaldo Rapalo's freedom of six days was terrifying to us all. He hung out near Bird Road with the homeless, went to a Christmas party and selected two women cooking a pig for victims. He stalked and considered seriously assaulting these women. While Rapalo was at large, officers guarded two prosecutors who are handling the case, as well as Miami-Dade State Attorney Katherine Fernandez Rundle. He told police the only thing that kept him from commiting more crimes was his desire to escape to Honduras. A citizen's tip led authorities to Rapalo on Monday night. Initially, he told detectives he was a homeless man from Nicaragua and was worried about being deported. Thank the Lord, this monster is back behind bars. On our late local news at 11 p.m. I heard the news that the officials had just arrested him moments before they went on the air. It was still in the process of the arrest, so no footage was available yet. I was so happy and able to sleep better knowing this information right away. The women previous mentioned had angels guarding them no doubt.

He has confessed to raping seven females from ages 11 to 79 yrs old and attempting to attack four others. Yes folks, you heard me right a 11 yr old child to a 79 year old woman that could be your grandmother. He is an illegal immigrant from Honduras and was dubbed by Miami police the “Shenandoah Rapist”.

On a poll conducted by our local TV station, citizens believe by 97% that Rapalo will rape again.

The pictures are so bad that I can only post this one because of how gruesome the others are. My heart breaks for children and how traumatizing this must be for them to see in person or on the news. This story was aired on our local station but it is in N.Y. This story makes me sick to report it, but for ones that think there is no war against Christmas this only shows just how bad it has gotten. (CBS4 News) NEW YORK A New York City family’s holiday decoration is giving new
meaning to the phrase, “You’d better watch out.”

In the family’s yard,
there’s a bloody, bearded Santa Claus hanging from a tree. Old Saint Nick is
holding a bloody knife and a beheaded Barbie.

The family members are
reportedly non-practicing Jews, who want to make a holiday statement with their
disgusting display, protesting the commercialization of Christmas.

Their
16 year old daughter came up with the idea, based on the movie, “Silent Night,

Simple mesh gave Iraqi woman hope

A simple piece of mesh, costing just £65 in the UK, was able to save an young Iraqi woman from a life of misery and rejection.
The woman had suffered a severe prolapsed uterus and doctors in Iraq feared they might have to give her radical surgery or even a hysterectomy.
This would have meant that the 23-year-old would probably have been left sterile and might never marry.
UK experts say that because of the value placed in Iraq on marriage and the ability to have children, that this woman would probably have been ostracised, been a financial burden on her family and might even have taken her own life to escape what she saw as her increasing shame. "The girl was a farmer doing heavy jobs with lifting. She was a virgin and
apart from the problem with her prolapsed uterus she was in good health.

"It was very successful.

Andrew Mathieson, (pictured above) a senior lecturer from the
University of the West of England, who organised the Iraq trip in June, said
that without the surgery he had feared for the girl's life.

"By the age of 30 she would have probably killed herself.

"The common form of suicide is for such girls to pour petrol over
themselves and ignite it. They die in agony as a result of the severe burns.

"When you get an opportunity like this you seize it. It was the
first time this operation had been carried out in Southern Iraq and
everything worked like a dream thanks to Charles Cox Kim Hinshaw and Andrew
Mathieson."

Greek billionairess Athina Roussel Onassis, 20, has exchanged vows with Brazil's Olympic horse-rider Alvaro Alfonso de Miranda, 32.
Tight security was in place for the ceremony in the immaculate gardens of an art museum in the city.
Ms Onassis, whose fortune is estimated at about $2.7bn, met her future husband at a riding academy in Belgium in 2002.

Atheist filed suit to Remove Memorial Crosses

Atheist group wants memorial crosses removed, can you believe it? It is no longer a war on just Christmas it is way bigger. Holiday Assault? Christianity? Below is a story reported in the Salt Lake City Tribune.

A lawsuit filed by the American Atheists in U.S. District Court on Thursday
seeks to remove steel crosses that dot roadways throughout Utah and memorialize
Utah Highway Patrol troopers who have died in the line of duty. The suit has
drawn harsh reaction from family members of the fallen troopers and promises to
be the source of an emotional battle. The crosses, which stand about 12 feet
high and bear the trooper's name and the UHP insignia, were erected starting in
1998 and serve as a memorial for 14 troopers who have died since 1931. About
nine of the crosses are on public land and all of them are placed near the spot

This battle continues all over our country and getting more and more vicious everyday. I feel we have to stand up for what we believe in and stop these attacks on Christmas and our right to be Christians in our own country. The 5% of our population including the Atheist groups and the ACLU has to be stopped.

Two Fla. Inmates on the Loose

VERO BEACH, Fla. — Two Indian River County inmates are on the loose. Sheriff's deputies are searching for Edward Roberson and Marty Finney who escaped overnight.
The escape was caught on a surveillance tape. Sheriff's officials say the men got out through a small space in a shower area, then through two chain-link fences with barbed wire.
The two may be armed and dangerous and authorities say they could still be in the Vero Beach area.
A third inmate who also escaped has been caught.

What the heck is going on with all these escapes? Perhaps if the death penalty was enforced more, we would not have to worry about over-crowding, budget cuts and most importantly this rash of escapes. How many have been reported just in the last few months? This is a serious problem!

Voting for a new president is taking place in Honduras, with both leading candidates pledging to crack down on gang violence.
Porfirio Lobo of the governing National Party is facing Manuel Zelaya of the Liberals, as polls show the two right-wingers neck and neck.
Honduras suffers from crime, poverty, and unemployment of about 30%.
Sunday's vote is the seventh presidential election since 1981, when civilian rule was restored.
Mr Zelaya, 53, is a civil engineer and rancher who has previously served as investment minister.
Mr Lobo, 57, is a former communist who has pledged to introduce the death penalty for crimes such as sexual assault, kidnapping and murder. Read the rest of the story here

Earthquake Rocks Iran

Tehran, Iran, Nov. 27 – A fairly strong earthquake shook parts of southern Iran and the Iranian island of Qeshm Sunday afternoon, leaving at least 200 people injured.

The earthquake has measured 6.1 on the Richter scale.

The southern port town of Bandar Abbas was also shaken by the quake.
